DESCRIPTION
“I was a bit tired of pouring wine, so I decided to make some.” Benoit Courault, winemaker said about his choice to leave the restaurant business and venture into the vineyard. Today, as a winemaker, his chenin blancs have a bit of a cult following.
Empreinte is a single-variety organic vineyard where old-vine chenin blanc is grown. Like a footprint (empreinte) in French his wine is a reflection of the land. He works as naturally as possible- no chemicals. The 2024 displays bright fresh acidity and orchard fruit, like ripe peach with a lively saline finish.
