DESCRIPTION
In 1999 Benjamin de Rothschild already had operations with Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons in South Africa and Laurent Dassault was searching for a new project. Together, they purchased property in the central west of the Province of Mendoza and became some of the very first French to invest in the Vista Flores region in the Uco Valley.
Their goal was to create a New World “grand cru”, an excellent Argentinian wine, from this little-known but remarkable terroir in the foothills of the Andes.
The 2021 vintage in Mendoza was exceptional, marked by a warm start to the season, followed by a summer of moderate temperatures and rain in February that favored slow tannin ripening and optimal sugar concentration. Red grapes benefited the most., especially Malbec and Cabernet Franc.
Flechas De Los Andes Gran Malbec 2021has a bright ruby red color with purple hues. On the nose, it unfolds with an aromatic depth that highlights an exceptional quality of red fruit, with notes of cherries and blackcurrants, accompanied by subtle menthol, tobacco, pencil shaves, cedar and ash nuances. On the palate, this wine is balanced and vibrant, with an outstanding freshness. It has a good body, velvety texture with fine, juicy tannins. The finish is long lasting, leaving a spicy and fruity aftertaste that lingers.
