Quinta do Infantado Ruby Reserva Port

DESCRIPTION
The name Infantado stems from Infante (Prince), as the estate was established in 1816 for the Portuguese Royal Family (Infante D. Pedro).
For centuries, small farmers grew the grapes, but by law, the wine had to be sent downriver to the coastal city of Vila Nova de Gaia to be aged and exported by the large British and Portuguese houses. In 1979, Quinta do Infantado broke the monopoly. They became the first estate to bottle and export their own Port directly from the Douro.
The "Meio-Seco" (Medium-Dry) Style: Infantado is famous for fermenting their grapes longer than almost anyone else. This results in less residual sugar and more natural alcohol. While most Rubies are syrupy, this wine feels more like a powerful red wine that happens to be fortified.
