DESCRIPTION
"Tyson Crowley made his first wines under his own name in 2005 and has slowly built up his production over the years, but this is still a micro-producer, issuing about 3,000 cases total, per vintage. The winery has developed a loyal following even as it retains a distinct insider status. The pricing for these Pinot Noirs is extremely low given the quality of what’s in the bottle, and fans of elegant, balanced wines will adore them for their energy and fine detail. Very little new oak is used here – no more than a third and usually in the zero to 15% range – and the wines tend to be relatively low in alcohol as well. While I had a slight preference for the graceful 2019s this year, the 2018s are impressively lively and precise for the vintage." Josh Reynolds Vinous
Aromatically, the nose has a coolness accentuated by a sweet, fruity and spicy sativa with just a touch of background lemon mixed with ripe cherry. The entry on the mouth is airy and smooth, acidity crisp and determined. Brilliantly polished and bright red, pomegranate, orange tea, mushroom and lean strawberry frame a complex and restrained fruit profile. Only 200 cases produced.Â
