DESCRIPTION
Gautherot's friend Anselme Selosse convinced him to vinify his grapes and make his own wine as opposed to selling grapes to the local co-op. According to Peter Liam, " He quickly gained a devoted following, and today he enjoys near cult-like status in the Aube among champagne aficionados, rivaled perhaps only by Cédric Bouchard" Gautherot describes the fidéle as “a dangerous wine”—the bottle disappears so quickly.
Fidèle is 100% Pinot Noir mainly from the lieux-dits of Fonnet and Briaunes with additional Pinot from the other parcels Bertrand farms. Fermented in oak, then 20 months sur latte, then finished without any dosage. Deep color, distinct red fruits, forward and lush. Vinous, lively and dangerously tasty.
